Soy wax is made from soy beans with added botanical oils. The manufacturers guarantee it to be free from GMOs and also from pesticide or herbicide residues. It is renewable and sustainable, and it burns cleanly, with a warmer-looking flame than paraffin wax.
The undyed wax is a creamy colour and looks rather like vanilla ice cream. It dyes well, and its creamy texture is particularly suited to pastel colours. Please note that the dyes I use are synthetic, so for an all-natural candle, you should choose the undyed wax. It does have a tendency to drip, which it does in beautiful and spectacular fashion, adding interest to the candle as it burns. Please be sure to use a large enough holder to allow for this.
I have a wide range of colours, sizes and shapes from which to choose, with prices starting at just £1.50. More details will appear here soon, but in the meantime, e-mail me to see what's in stock, or visit my stall at one of the Made on Islay Craft Markets. Candles can also be made to order at no extra cost.
