Natural, Sustainable, Palm Wax Candles

Palm wax candles in assorted shapes, sizes and colours

The palm kernel has one of the highest oil contents of any plant, so good yields can be obtained from a small space.  There is real concern about the destruction of rainforest in favour of oil palm plantations, as a result of which the Worldwide Fund for Nature has established the “Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil” to encourage responsible production.  The palm wax I use comes from an RSPO supplier.

This particular blend contains 80% palm oil blended with other plant oils to produce a wax with a beautiful “frosted” appearance.  It is renewable, clean-burning and free from GMOs.  The natural colour of the wax is a lovely pale cream.  It dyes well, producing quite vivid shades, although these tend to look paler because of the white crystalline structure.  Please note that the dyes I use are synthetic, so for an all-natural candle, you should choose the undyed wax.

I have a wide range of colours, sizes and shapes from which to choose, with prices starting at just £1.50.  More details will appear here soon, but in the meantime, e-mail me to see what's in stock, or visit my stall at one of the Made on Islay Craft Markets.  Candles can also be made to order at no extra cost.
