Hand Made Candles

I have been making candles for over ten years and in that time have enjoyed experimenting with different waxes and techniques.  Although I still use some paraffin wax - for many years the most common candle wax - I prefer to use natural waxes from sustainable, renewable sources.

When burning candles of any type, please remember the following:

• Never leave a burning candle unattended.
• Extinguish candles before moving them.
• Place candles away from other heat sources, including direct sunlight.
• Leave about a hand's width between lighted candles to prevent overheating.
• Burn all candles on a suitable, non-flammable container on a heat-resistant surface.
• Keep candles out of draughts and away from curtains and other flammable items.
• Ensure candles are out of reach of children and pets.
• Container candles: ensure the container is undamaged before burning.
• Remember containers will become hot in use, and place on a heat-proof surface.
• Be especially careful if using a lantern or other enclosed holder.  Most of these are designed for use with tea lights and should never be used for larger candles.
